Range Trek & Sailing (AR 092)

Southwards, the Andes Range sinks into the Pacific Ocean forming a large
archipelago. It's a group of Chilean island with lots of channels, fjords
and bays, outlined by the rugged shape of the southern extreme of the
Andes. Every glacier, lake, peat bog, and valley over there has the additional
charm of being almost untouched by human beings.
Day 1 – Ushuaia
Arrival at Ushuaia. Reception and transfer to the hotel. You will be offered
an introductory lecture. In the afternoon a city tour including a visit
to the End of the World Museum. Dinner. Accommodation.
Day 2 – Ushuaia / Puerto Wiliams
Breakfast. Transfer to the pier to board the sailboat that will take you
across the Beagle Channel to Puerto Williams, the southernmost Chilean
town located in Navarino Island, where you will be able to visit its Martin
Gusinde Museum. Lunch and dinner on board. Overnight on board.
Day 3 – Naviagtion in the Beagle Channel
Breakfast. Navigation from Puerto Williams towards Bahia Yendegaia. Lunch
and dinner on board. Overnight on board.
Day 4 – Yendegaia Bay
Breakfast. Arrival at Caleta Ferrari (Yendegaia Bay), where you will see
the first ranch in the Chilean part of Tierra del Fuego. During the visit
it will be possible to observe the old 'concheros', relics left by the
former inhabitants of this land called the 'Yaganes' (aborigine people),
a real anthropologic treasure due to the information they provide about
the every day habits of these people. Horse-ride to the Stoppani Glacier
camp base. Lunch. In the evening, you will have a lecture about the region.
Dinner. Overnight at camp.
Day 5 – Yendegaia Bay
Breakfast. Today, join a trekking excursion to Los Zorros Lake, Dartmoore
Glacier and Mt. Roncagli Area. The whole trek will follow a path of guanacos.
Admire the impressive view of Dartmoore Glacier and Roncagli Mount, which
presents quite a high technical difficulty for climbers. Lunch at Guanaco
lake. The return trip to Stoppani Camp Base will be along another path
of guanacos. Dinner and overnight at Stoppani Camp Base .
Day 6 – Yendegaia Bay / Beagle Channel
Breakfast. Today you will return to Caleta Ferrari on horseback. Lunch.
In the afternoon, board the sailboat again to leave Yendegaia and sail
back to Puerto Williams. Dinner and overnight on board.
Day 7 – Puerto Williams
Breakfast. Upon arrival at Puerto Williams, enjoy a guided city tour of
Puerto Williams to discover the traces left by the former inhabitants
of the island. Reembark the boat. Dinner and overnight on board.
Day 8 – Puerto Williams / Ushuaia
Breakfast. Navigation from Puerto Williams to Ushuaia across the Beagle
Channel. Arrival in Ushuaia. Transfer to the hotel. Overnight at the hotel.
Day 9 – Ushuaia
Breakfast. Transfer to the airport.
