Day 1 – Tucumán
Reception at the airport and transfer to the hotel. Accommodation.
Day 2 – Tucumán / Tafí del Valle
Breakfast. City tour of Tucumán visiting the main highlights: the
Cathedral, the Historic House, Independencia Square, 9 de Julio Park,
De la Merced Church and main historical buildings. Continue to Tafi del
Valle visiting the Indian's Monument and Calchaquí Valleys. Arrival
to Tafí del Valle, brief visit of the town including La Banda Church.
Accommodation.
Day 3 – Tafí del Valle / Cabra Corral Dam
Breakfast. Departure towards Quilmes ascending the Calchaquí mounts
up to the 3.042 meters o.s.l.. From this point onwards, we will start
descending passing by Amaicha del Valle up to the Quilmes Ruins. Visit.
Continue to Cafayate (famous for the production of torrontés grapes).
Visit of a winery. Free lunch. Continue through the Cafayate gorge where
strange rock formations eroded by the wind and the rain such as the obelisc,
the anphiteatre, the devil's throat, etc. can be appreciated. After Alemania
we will travel through a valley landscape up to Coronel Moldes where the
Cabra Corral Dam is located. Accommodation.
Day 4 – Cabra Corral Dam / Jujuy
Breakfast. Departure to Jujuy city through Gral. Guemes. Arrival. City
tour visiting the Cathedral, the Government House, the Lavalle Historic
Museum, the San Francisco Church, etc. Accommodation. In the afternoon,
optional tour to Termas de Reyes and Lagunas de Yala.
Day 5 – Jujuy
Breakfast. Departure to Humahuaca along the Humahuaca gorge visiting Purmamarca
with the Seven Colours Hill and its picturesque streets. Continue to Tilcara
(Archaeological Capital of the Northwest) to visit its Pucará,
old pre-Colombian aborigine stronghold partially rebuilt, the Archaeologic
Museum and the local parish church which holds the oldest altarpiece in
the region and a collection of paintings coming from Cuzco representing
the harquebuser angels. Arrival to Humahuaca. City tour. Free lunch. Return
to Jujuy visiting Maimara to be surprised by the colorful 'Painter's Palette',
notorious formation on the mountain slope and the 'People's Cemetery'.
Day 6 – Jujuy / Salta
Breakfast. Departure to Salta passing by La Ciénaga Dam , Campo
Alegre Dam and San Lorenzo Gorge. Arrival. City tour visiting the Cathedral,
the Church and Monastery of San Francisco, San Bernardo Monastery, the
Monument to Gral. Güemes, Mt. 20 de febrero. Accommodation.
Optional: surprising Salta including folkloric show.
Day 7 – Salta
Breakfast. Day at leisure for optional tours. We recommend the Train to
the Clouds, the Movitrack Safaris or Cachi.
Day 8 – Salta / Buenos Aires
Breakfast. Transfer to the airport to board the flight to Buenos Aires.
