Crossing by train from the Andes to the sea (AR 038)

Departing from the mountains, where the most important lake region is
located, to the sea, we will enjoy the marine fauna reserves, and travel
from east to west on board of the Patagonic Train, the first cruise by
land that invites you to enjoy a fantastic journey that offers the best
services on board and amazing landscapes.
Day 1- San Carlos de Bariloche
Reception and transfer to the hotel. Accommodation. Depart from the hotel
for a half-day sightseeing tour of Bariloche and its outskirts. Drive
along Bustillo Ave. bordering the Nahuel Huapi Lake towards Playa Bonita.
Continue to Campanario Hill, where a chair lift will take you to the summit.
Enjoy a complete overview of Nahuel Huapi Lake, the mountain peaks of
the Andean Range and the city. Then drive towards the San Pedro and Llao
Llao Peninsulas. Visit San Eduardo Chapel and admire the view of the Llao
Llao hotel and Puerto Pañuelo, embarkation point of most lake excursions.
Cross the bridge that connects Nahuel Huapi Lake and Moreno Lake and proceed
to López Bay. Enjoy a breathtaking view of Nahuel Huapi Lake from
the Panoramic Point, a natural balcony facing the Moreno Lake. Return
to Bariloche. Accommodation.
Day 2- San Carlos de Bariloche
Breakfast. Day at leisure for optional tours. We recommend the full day
excursion to San Martín de los Andes. Departure to San Martín
de los Andes through the Seven Lakes Road. This scenic route that borders
the northern margin of Nahuel Huapi Lake will take us to Villa La Angostura,
a little village surrounded by dense forests and towering mountains. The
road has mountain stretches and goes through dense woods with huge coihues.
Proceed along the Seven Lakes Road passing by Correntoso, Espejo, Falkner
and Villarino, Babley, Machonico and Lacar Lakes. Arrive at San Martín
de los Andes, a lovely alpine village located by the Lacar Lake shore.
We will have lunch and later either go shopping or stroll around the town.
Return through Cordoba Pass (1200 m above sea level) admiring the typical
patagonian landscape. Continue through Traful and Limay rivers confluence,
Valle Encantado (Enchanted Valley), where we will see strange rocky shapes
such as the Castle, God's Finger, the Elephant and the Amphitheatre which
looks like a Roman Circus, and finally arriving at Bariloche. Accommodation.
Day 3- San Carlos de Bariloche / Península Valdés
Breakfast. Transfer to the train station to board the Patagonic Train
that departs at 7:00 p.m. for a night trip to San Antonio Oeste. We will
board a comfortable sleeper train with berths, restaurant and cinema.
Day 4- Península Valdés
Arrival at 7:45 a.m. at San Antonio Oeste train station. Assistance and
transfer to Puerto Pirámide. Lunch at restaurant (drinks not included).
After lunch, we will embark to see the marine fauna. Then we will continue
to Punta Delgada (376 km) which has a marvellous beach where a colony
of marine elephants, marine wolves, maras, choiques, foxes and guanacos
live.
Day 5- Península Valdés / Puerto Madryn
Breakfast. Transfer to San Lorenzo to see the penguin rockery.Then we
will continue to Puerto Madryn. Transfer to the hotel.
Day 6- Puerto Madryn
Breakfast. Transfer to Trelew Airport.
Note:
* The Patagonic train (Bariloche/San Antonio Oeste) departs on Saturdays.
